Neuropsychological Assessment
Neuropsychological assessment involves identifying any cognitive, emotional, or behavioural changes that an individual is experiencing.
Assessment is conducted through the process of interviewing the person and their carers or family members, if necessary, and by using questionnaires, and/or sometimes observational assessment.
Neuropsychological assessment often includes cognitive testing which is a way of measuring a person’s thinking abilities, such as their:
- memory
- concentration
- reasoning
- and planning abilities.
Assessment in the context of acquired brain injury.
Lakes Neuropsychology provide highly specialist neuropsychological assessments as part of clients’ diagnostic input for dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions.
These assessments can often have an integral role in helping to identify specific disorders and in differential diagnosis.
We use evidence-based approaches to assessment which often include use of psychometric cognitive tests. Interpretation of psychometric data is considered alongside the client’s views and those of their their family, and relevant background and medical information or information from observational assessments.
All assessment appointments are adapted to meet each client’s individual needs with shorter sessions or regular breaks included as required.
We also provide cognitive assessments for other neurological conditions, including Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, and Stroke.
